Detox Retreat on the Antalya Coast

The reason people come to this stretch of coast to reset is climatic rather than mystical. Antalya sits between the Mediterranean and the Taurus wall, which gives it mild winters, dry summers and an unusual number of usable days per year. Within half an hour of the city you can be in a quiet inland valley, on an empty stretch of shoreline, or several hundred metres up in pine air.

This is a private arrangement rather than a fixed group programme, and that is the honest description of it. The shape of the days — where you stay, what you do with the mornings, how much movement versus how much stillness — is agreed with you before you arrive. If you already have a clinic, a yoga teacher or a particular hotel in mind, we build around it. If you do not, tell us what you want the retreat to achieve and we will put options in front of you.

Whoever you book with, ask these three:

• Who is supervising, and what are their credentials?
• What exactly happens on each day, hour by hour?
• What is included in the quoted price and what is charged on site?

A retreat that cannot answer all three in writing is not one to hand money to. We will answer them for our part of it.

The geography gives you three very different settings within a short drive of one another, and a good retreat uses more than one of them. The shoreline west of the city is long and open, with the mountains visible along it, which suits early walking. The valleys behind the coastal plain are agricultural and quiet, with running water and shade — a different kind of stillness. And the Taurus foothills put you in pine air a few hundred metres up, where the temperature drops and the noise stops entirely. Moving between them is a driving question, and driving is what we do.
