Saklıkent — "Hidden City" — is Turkey's longest and deepest canyon at 18 km long and 350m deep, with vertical walls cut by the Eşen River through the Toros mountains 40 km east of Fethiye. The cold, clean water canyon offers wading hikes through stunning rock formations. Combined with nearby Tlos ancient city (Lycian rock-cut tombs and Roman acropolis) and Yakapark trout restaurants, this is one of southwestern Turkey's most spectacular day-trips.
What the Day Looks Like
07:30 — Hotel pickup. Chauffeur in your hotel lobby. Mercedes V-Class for the 2.5-hour drive from Antalya.
07:30-10:00 — Drive Antalya → Saklıkent. 215 km via D400 west through Kemer, Demre, Kaş, Kalkan. Mid-point break in Demre or Kaş area.
10:00-12:30 — Saklıkent Canyon hike. Walking platform at canyon entrance (200m), then optional wading hike upstream into the canyon (rubber sandals provided by canyon operator). The cold-water hike takes you through dramatic rock formations with sunlight streaming down through the canyon walls. Allow 90-120 minutes total. Canyon entry 100-150 TRY.
12:30-14:00 — Lunch at Yakapark. Famous trout restaurant in a stream-filled park area near Saklıkent. Tables built directly over the river, fresh trout from local farms, Turkish mezze. One of Turkey's most photographed restaurant settings.
14:00-15:30 — Tlos ancient city. Lycian rock-cut tombs carved into the cliff face, Roman acropolis, Byzantine basilica, Ottoman stronghold. The tomb facades are spectacular — among Turkey's most photographed Lycian funerary architecture. Site entry 200 TRY.
15:30-17:00 — Drive back to Antalya. 200 km return; arrive at hotel ~17:30-18:00.
