The currency is the Turkish lira. Cards are widely accepted in hotels, larger restaurants and shops, so you can put much on plastic, but it is worth carrying some cash for markets, small cafés, taxis and tipping, where cash is easier. During Ramadan, be mindful and respectful around those fasting. None of this is onerous — it is simply meeting a warm culture with warmth of your own.
