Avoiding Taxi Overcharging at Turkish Airports
Most Turkish drivers are honest, but airports anywhere attract a few who size up tired tourists. A little awareness goes a long way.
Know the common tricks
A "broken" meter and a high flat quote; a long route when a short one exists; a quoted price per person rather than per car; or an unofficial driver who approaches you inside the terminal. Official taxis use the rank outside, not touts in arrivals.
Protect yourself
Agree the full price before getting in, insist on the meter or a written fixed quote, and never accept a ride from someone who approaches you in the hall. Keep your hotel address written down.
The simplest fix
A pre-booked private transfer removes the whole problem: the price is fixed and agreed online before you fly, the driver is vetted and named, and there is no meter to "break". You walk past the queue to a driver holding your name.
Fixed means fixed
WeCare's fare does not change by time of day, traffic or "airport supplement". The number you book is the number you pay.
