The reassuring answer is that a good private transfer can usually be arranged both well in advance and at short notice — but there is a sensible window, and it shifts with the season, the size of your group and the kind of vehicle you need. For a standard car in most conditions, a few days' notice is plenty. But the safest habit is to book when you book your flights and accommodation, while the details are in front of you — it costs nothing to arrange early, it locks in the price, and it means the one part of arrival you can control is settled long before you fly.
